Houston Christian University
Houston, Texas
HOUSTON CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY (HCU), formerly Houston Baptist University, has equipped students to lead, collaborate, and embody a deep sense of spiritual purpose for more than sixty years.
HCU’s mission encourages students’ passion for academic, spiritual, and professional excellence as a result of the central confession, “Jesus Christ is Lord.” Students are empowered to make the most of their God-given talents and to gain career skills from dedicated faculty.
HCU offers more than 75 majors, forty graduate degrees including four doctoral degrees, and seventeen NCAA Division I sports programs in the Southland Conference. A culture of excellence prepares students to think critically and act biblically beyond the classroom as they impact the world, becoming the next generation of educated disciples and pillars in their communities.
Learners benefit from small-group instruction, Christian discipleship, and mentorship. Opportunities for research begin at the undergraduate level, as do internships and job opportunities that enable students to build connections. Students move toward fulfilling their callings in the Honors College, College of Science and Engineering, School of Nursing and Allied Health, Archie W. Dunham College of Business, College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, College of Arts and Humanities, and School of Christian Thought.
HCU is located in the Sharpstown area, minutes from Houston’s downtown district.
