Tyler Junior College

Tyler, TX

NESTLED IN THE HEART of Tyler, Texas, Tyler Junior College (TJC) is one of the largest community colleges in the state and, according to a recent study by higher education professionals, is the only community college listed among the Top 3 choices for higher education in East Texas.

Established in 1926, TJC serves more than 12,000 students per semester and offers more than 115 degree and certificate options, including three bachelor’s degree programs, plus extensive customized training and adult continuing education.

When students arrive on our beautiful 145-acre campus, they are immediately immersed in the TJC culture, which includes our strong core values, rigorous academics, nationally ranked athletics, stellar fine and performing arts, and diverse student life.

We are committed to providing various pathways for students to transfer to senior universities or gain the skills they need to go directly into the workforce. With smaller class sizes and a caring faculty, TJC places a strong emphasis on student success.

For more than 97 years, TJC has embodied the true sense of the term “community college” as reflected in its mission to provide students with a quality education at a third of the cost of major universities.

TJC has received legislative designation, Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board approval, and accreditation by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools/Commission on Colleges, as one of five Legacy Colleges in Texas to award up to five baccalaureate degrees, in order to continue to provide each student with a world-class education.

In a recent survey of current students, 75 percent said TJC was their first choice for college, and 94 percent said they would choose TJC again based on their experience.
