West Texas A&M University

Canyon, Texas

WEST TEXAS A&M UNIVERSITY (WT) is a regional research university that transfers insights and ideas from the Texas Panhandle to rural communities across the nation and the world. Research at WT focuses on areas as diverse as rural education, environmental issues in Palo Duro Canyon, feed yard performance, and Copper Clean to protect surfaces from viruses and bacteria.

As a Hispanic-Serving Institution since 2016 and one of 53 U.S. institutions recognized for advancing first-generation students, there are many reasons to apply, enroll, attend, experience, and graduate from WT.

WT was named the safest campus in Texas and a “Top Ten Safest Campus in the U.S.” by YourLocalSecurity.com. While many colleges and universities across the nation raised tuition in 2022–23, WT is committed to remaining affordable and accessible, through the Buff Promise and more than $32 million in scholarships and grants. WT employees and their eligible immediate family members receive fifty percent off tuition and mandatory fees, among the most generous benefits offered by any state college or university in Texas.

WT was designated as a best-value university in the U.S., earning thirty awards for individual programs, and was awarded nine best program rankings from U.S. News & World Report. WT also has been nationally recognized by Money and Fortune magazines.
