University of Houston-Downtown

Houston, Texas

THE UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON–DOWNTOWN (UHD) serves the educational needs of the nation’s fourth largest city as Houston’s second largest public four-year university. Situated in the heart of Downtown, UHD provides a wealth of real-world opportunities for its students.

UHD offers bachelor’s degrees in 46 areas of study, as well as eleven master’s degrees in four academic colleges: sciences and technology, humanities and social sciences, public service, and business. Classes are held at three satellite locations, and via hybrid and eighteen fully online programs. Collaborative learning is enhanced by a 20:1 student–faculty ratio and undergraduate research opportunities with award-winning faculty.

With one of the lowest tuition rates in Texas, UHD makes the pursuit of higher learning affordable and accessible. UHD grads have the lowest debt in the Lone Star State, according to the Houston Chronicle. More than 61,000 UHD alumni excel in fields ranging from business to science, technology, criminal justice, and the humanities.

The university is nationally recognized for its community engagement programs that link classroom academics with opportunities to serve in Greater Houston and around the globe. Campus resources include club sports teams, a public art collection, more than ninety student organizations, and Greek and honor societies.

UHD Wellness & Success Center opened in January with a food market, wellness suite, demonstration kitchen, counseling services, fitness/recreation offerings, and more.
