THE UNIVERSITY OF TEXAS RIO GRANDE VALLEY (UTRGV) is located at the southernmost point of Texas that stretches to the beautiful Gulf Coast, a region rich in culture. UTRGV offers students an exceptional education for exceptional value.
UTRGV’s dynamic learning environment features more than 125 undergraduate and graduate degrees spanning the arts and sciences. High-ranking programs include engineering, health professions, marine biology, and international business. A Hispanic-Serving Institution, UTRGV is home to internationally recognized folkloric arts programs and a broad range of Latino and Hispanic studies.
UTRGV’s School of Medicine trains the next generation of physician leaders in medical education, scientific research, and patient care. With more than four hundred medical students, residents, and fellows currently serving in nineteen hospital-based training programs throughout the Valley, UTRGV is a leader in medical training in Texas and beyond. For high-achieving students across South Texas, Vaqueros MD provides a direct path to admission into the School of Medicine.
Admitted students with household incomes of $125,000 or less may be eligible to receive the UTRGV Tuition Advantage grant, a new program fully covering tuition and mandatory fees. This grant is partially why so many Vaqueros graduate with little to no student debt.
The newly established UTRGV Luminary Scholarship program offers the brightest incoming college freshmen from all disciplines a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. Students receive full tuition and board for their undergraduate studies and can move onto a fully covered graduate/professional degree, or admission to the UTRGV School of Medicine.
