ST. MARY’S UNIVERSITY, a Catholic and Marianist liberal arts institution, is a gateway for students to learn, grow and become professional, ethical leaders. The university is committed to both a rigorous educational experience and to helping students discover, affirm, and cultivate their unique talents and gifts.

Founded by Marianist (Society of Mary) brothers in 1852, St. Mary’s is the first institution of higher learning in San Antonio and the oldest Catholic university in Texas. We have a student population from diverse faiths and backgrounds.

Students experience a nurturing and vibrant community that encourages and facilitates civic engagement, undergraduate and graduate research, faculty mentoring, and service learning in San Antonio and around the world.

Offerings include undergraduate studies in humanities, sciences, and business, with options to pursue graduate, doctoral, and law degrees. St. Mary’s also features specialized programs like the Greehey MBA for Values-driven Leaders, the master of jurisprudence program, three ABET-accredited engineering programs and an educational computer gaming graduate program that is ranked among the top in the world by the Princeton Review.

The campus sits on 135 acres northwest of downtown San Antonio. Twelve residence halls, both single-sex and coed, are surrounded by green space, with a new hall opening in 2017.

With tuition priced below the national average for four-year private institutions, St. Mary’s has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report for excellence and value.
