A CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY and sister school to the University of Notre Dame, St. Edward’s University cultivates critical thinking, experiential learning, and social service among its 4,300 students, most of whom are undergraduates. Its serene and challenging liberal arts learning environment is situated only blocks from some of Austin’s favorite hangouts.

The 160-acre hilltop campus overlooks the thriving downtown Austin area. In recent years, the campus has welcomed new buildings, including a library, natural sciences center, and auditorium. Recently renovated facilities include the campus recreation gym, chapel, and campus ministry building. The Munday Library was made possible through the single gift of $13 million from Bill and Pat Munday.

The John Brooks Williams Natural Sciences Center houses computer science, mathematics, and bioinformatics programs, while the 126-seat Carter Auditorium functions as a lecture and performance hall. St. Edward’s Wild Basin Creative Research Center is an interdisciplinary natural resource laboratory that provides hands-on learning. The university added on-campus living for nearly 450 students with The Pavilions, a new apartment complex that opened in 2018.

St. Edward’s is recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and 57 languages are spoken on campus, making for a diverse community. The school offers more than fifty undergraduate and five graduate programs. Along with a network of 21 partner universities in seventeen countries, a branch campus in Angers, France, was founded in 2008.
