St Edward’s University

Austin, Texas

A CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY and sister school to the University of Notre Dame, St. Edward’s University cultivates critical thinking, experiential learning, and social service among its four thousand students, most of whom are undergraduates.

The 160-acre hilltop campus overlooking downtown Austin recently welcomed new buildings including a library, a natural sciences center, and an auditorium. Newly renovated facilities include the campus Recreation and Athletics Center, chapel, and campus ministry building.

The John Brooks Williams Natural Sciences Center houses computer science, mathematics, and bioinformatics programs, while the 126-seat Carter Auditorium functions as a lecture and performance hall. The St. Edward’s Wild Basin Creative Research Center is an interdisciplinary natural resource laboratory that provides hands-on learning. The university added on-campus living for nearly 450 students in 2018 with the St. André Apartments.

St. Edward’s is recognized as a Hispanic-Serving Institution and 26 languages are spoken on campus. The school offers more than fifty undergraduate programs, nine master’s degree programs, and a doctorate program.

At St. Edward’s, 97 percent of undergraduates engage in experiential education, predominantly in Austin. The university encourages study abroad and has a network of twenty partner universities in seventeen countries.

Students at St. Edward’s are highly engaged in the university’s long-standing culture of service and social justice, which is embedded in the school’s history, mission, classroom experience, and campus life.
